Onion Chicken Curry | Vengaya Kozhi Kuzhambu | வெங்காய கோழிக் குழம்பு


Ingredients :

Onion Chicken Curry Ingredients

To Marinate : (1 hour)

Curd - 2 tbsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Salt to Taste.

To Gravy :

Chicken - 250gm
Shallots / Small Onion - 1no (chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves for Garnish
Oil - 3 tbsp
Water - 1 and 1/2 cup
Salt to taste.

Steps To Make Kadai Onion Chicken Curry :
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with the mentioned ingredients for an hour and keep aside.

  • To make curry, heat oil in a kadai / frying pan, saute the onion and curry leaves until the onion becomes light golden brown colour.
  • Add marinated chicken pieces and saute for about 5min.
  • Add red chili powder, cumin seeds powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and required salt, saute until its raw smell leaves.

  • Pour water and bring to boil.
  • Cook for about 15 to 20min or until done.
  • Finally add coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with White Rice, Dosa, Idly or  Chapathi.
