Simple Rasam


Ingredients :

Simple Rasam Ingredients

Tamarind - 2" size ball
Tomato - 1 no (large)
Garlic - 7 cloves (crushed)
Dry Red Chili - 2 no
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek- 1/4 tsp
Peppercorn flakes - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds flakes - 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Crystal Salt to taste.
Water - 2cup
Oil - 1 tsp

Method :

  • To make tamarind water, in a bowl, soak tamarind for an hour with a cup of water, smash well it by using hand and extract the pulp.


  • Add tomato, garlic, peppercorn, cumin seeds and coriander Leaves, again mix (smash) with your fingers altogether.
  • Add 1cup water, mix well and Keep aside.


  • Heat oil in kadai, temper mustard seeds and urad dal in simmer.
  • After splutter add fenugreek, asafoetida, curry leaves and dry red chili, mix well for few seconds.
  • Add tamarind mixture.
  • Cook in medium flame, before boiling stage turn off stove and ready to serve with delicious aroma.
