How to make The Homemade Murukku Flour (Raw Rice Flour and Black Gram(skinless) flour) :

  • First clean and wash the raw rice. Drain the water and spread over on white cloth or thick tissue paper for overnight or atleast 5 hours to absorb moisture.
  • Then dry roast the black gram until slightly golden brown colour. Let it cool completely.
  • Then grind the raw rice and roasted black gram separately into fine powder. Sieve it and store separately in a air tight container box.

Ingredients :

Crispy Butter Murukku Ingredients
Murukku Maker
Raw Rice Flour - 2 cup
Black Gram (skinless)/ Urad Dal Flour - 3/4 cup
Butter - 25 gm ( room temperature)
Cumin Seeds / Omam - 1tsp
Water - Required
Oil for deep fry
Salt to taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Murukku Dough : (above image)

  • To make murukku dough, combine all the mentioned ingredients in a mixing bowl, except oil and water, mix well.
  • Then add required water and knead in to soft dough.

Steps To Make The Crispy Butter Mururkku : (shown in above image)

  • Take some murukku dough, fill the dough in murukku maker with 3hole disc and make the murukku.
  • For beginners, make murukku on ladles and drop them in the hot oil one by one.
  • Cook on both side until slightly golden brown colour and ready to serve.
  • Do the same procedure for the remaining dough.
  • Cool the prepared murukku and store in a air tight container. 
  • Self life is around 15 day.
Serving Suggestion : Serve with Cucumber Seeds Laddu, Crispy Semolina / Sooji / Rava Paniyaram or Coconut Rava Laddu / Suji Laddu.
