Hot and Sweet Prawn Gravy with Coconut Milk


Ingredients :

Hot and Sweet Prawn Gravy with Coconut Milk Ingredients

Prawn - 250 gm (cleaned)
Thick Coconut Milk - 1 cup ( 1/4 coconut)
Ground Onion Paste - 1 no
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Ground Red Chili Paste - 5 no ( 1 tbsp)
Ginger - 1 " long (finely chopped)
Sugar - 1 tsp
Cinnamon Stick - 2 (2" long)
Cloves - 4 no
Cardamom - 3 no
Bay Leaves - 1 or 2 no
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Method :


Steps to Clean Prawn :
  • First to Clean the Prawn, remove the Head and Tail and peel the shells with legs and discard them.
  • Next to devein the Prawn, use a sharp knife to make a slit along the middle of the back and pull out the vein.
  • Then use Turmeric Powder and Salt to wash.


  • Now Heat Oil in a pan, shallow fry all Prawn pieces until half cook and keep aside.


  • Then again heat Oil in a pan, roast Cardamom, Bay leaf, Cloves and Cinnamon Stick.
  • Add Garlic and saute until raw smell leaves.
  • Add Ground Onion paste and saute until golden brown colour.


  • Add Red Chili Paste, Turmeric Powder and Cumin Seeds, saute until raw smell leaves.
  • Add Coconut Milk and stir well.
  • Add Prawn Pieces when boiling starts.


  • Cook in a low flame until there should not be water and ready to serve.

Hot and Sweet Prawn Gravy with Coconut Milk

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Naan or Chapati.
