Sun-Dried Salted Seer Fish Curry / Vanjaram Meen Karuvadu Kuzhambu


Ingredients :

Sun-Dried Salted Seer Fish Curry / Vanjaram Meen Karuvadu Kuzhambu

Sun-Dried Salted Seer Fish / Vanjaram Karuvadu - 100gm
Drumstick - 1 no (chop into 2")
Brinjal - 5 nos (chopped)
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (2" ball size)
Coconut Paste - 3 tbsp
Small Onion - 10nos (chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Green Chili - 2 nos
Red Chili Powder - 2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stks
Water - 1 cup
Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Method :

Steps to Wash Sun-Dried Salted Fish / Karuvadu :
  •  First Soak Sun-Dried Salted Fish / Karuvadu in Lukewarm Water for 10 to 15mins or Use rice washed Water.
  • Then Scrub the skin gently.
  • Wash 4 to 5mins with Turmeric Powder and ready to use.

  • Heat Oil in a pan, add Small Onion and Curry leaves, saute until light golden colour.
  • Add Tomato and Green chili, saute for 1 minute.
  • Now add Brinjal and Drumstick, saute for 1 minute.

  • Now add Sun-Dried Fish, saute for 1 minute.
  • Then add Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder and Turmeric Powder, saute until raw smell leaves.
  • Add Coconut Paste, Tamarind Water, Water and required Salt (taste it and add then Salt), bring to boil.
  • Then close the lid and cook for 10 to 15mins in simmer until the Oil separates from the curry and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with White Rice or Dosa
