Hot and Sour Dry Prawn / Eral Gravy



Ingredients :

Hot and Sour Dry Prawn / Eral Gravy

Prawn / Eral / Iral - 250 gm
Coconut Milk - 1 cup (Fresh & Thick)
Tamarind Water - 3 tsp
Tomato Puree - 1 no (blanched, peel skin off)
Oil - 2 tbsp
Required Salt for Gravy.

To Marinate : (1/2 an hour)

Lemon Juice - 1/2 no
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Required Salt for Prawn.

To Grind into Paste :

Ginger - 1" long
Garlic - 8 cloves
Dry Red Chili - 5 nos (blanched)
Cinnamon Stick - 2 nos (2" long)
Star Anise - 1 no
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp.

Method :

Hot and Sour Dry Prawn / Eral Gravy

  • First Marinate Prawn with mentioned Ingredients for 1/2 an hour.

  • Meanwhile, Grind mentioned ingredients into paste with required Water.

  • Now heat Oil in a kadai, add ground paste and saute for an minute.
  • Add Tomato Puree and again saute for an minute.
  • Now add Coconut, Tamarind Water and required Salt, cook for 5mins in simmer until little thick gravy consistency.

  • Now add marinated Prawn pieces, cook for 5 to 7mins in medium flame till thick gravy consistency and also oil will separate from gravy. (Prawn Maximum Cooking Time is 5 - 7 mins in Medium Flame)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Sambar or Curd  or Rasam.
