Simple Tomato Curry / Thakkali Kuzhambu - South Indian Style


Ingredients :

Simple Tomato Curry / Thakkali Kuzhambu - South Indian Style

Tomato Puree - 3 nos
Onion - 1 no
Garlic - 7 Cloves
Green Chili - 2 nos
Red Chili Powder - 3/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Bay Leaves - 2 nos
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cloves - 3 nos
Coconut Paste - 1/4 cup
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Water - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste.

Method :

Simple Tomato Curry / Thakkali Kuzhambu - South Indian Style

  • Heat Oil in a pan, roast Cinnamon Stick, Bay Leaves and Cloves. 
  • Add Onion, Garlic, Green Chili and Curry Leaves saute until light golden colour.
  • Add Red Chili Powder and Turmeric Powder, saute until raw smell leaves.
  • Add Tomato Puree, saute for an minute.

  • Add Coconut Paste, Water and required Salt, Bring to boil and cook for 10mins in simmer.
  • Finally add Coriander Leaves, stir well and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with White Rice, Hot & Crispy Taro Root Fry and Appalam / Papad
