Butter Mutter Paneer Masala Gravy - North Indian Style


Ingredients :

Butter Mutter Paneer Masala Gravy - North Indian Style

Paneer / Indian Cottage Cheese - 200 gm
Green Peas - 1/2 cup (boiled)
Onion Paste - 1 no
Tomato Paste - 2 nos
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Cashewnut Paste - 30 nos (blanch in hot water for 30mins, paste)
Kasuri Methi - 2 tsp (crushed)
Fresh Cream - 2 tbsp
Butter - 2 tbsp
Water - 1 cup
Salt to taste

Method :

Butter Mutter Paneer Masala Gravy - North Indian Style

  • Heat Butter in a Kadai / Pan, add Onion Paste and saute until light golden brown colour.
  • Add Ginger Garlic Paste and saute until raw smell leaves.
  • Now add Tomato Paste, saute for an minute.


  • Add Red Chili Powder, Cumin Seeds Powder, Garam Masala and Turmeric Powder, saute until raw smell leaves and also Butter separate from gravy.
  • Now add Cashewnut Paste, saute for few seconds.
  • Add Paneer pieces and boiled Green Peas, saute for an minute.


  • Now add Water, stir well and bring to boil, then cook for 5mins in simmer and stirring frequently.
  • Then add Kasuri Methi and stir well for few seconds. Turn off flame.
  • Finally add Fresh Cream and mix well, ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Naan or Chapathi
