Mutton Leg Sukka | Goat Leg Sukka | ஆட்டுக்கால் சுக்கா | Attukal Sukka


Ingredients :

Mutton Leg Sukka | Goat Leg Sukka | ஆட்டுக்கால் சுக்கா | Attukal Sukka

Mutton Leg / ஆட்டுக்கால் - 1 set
Shallots / Small Onion - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (finely chopped)
Coconut Paste - 2 tbsp
Green chili - 1 no (finely chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Star Anise - 1 no
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cloves - 5 nos
Cashew nut - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 2 cup
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Pressure Cook The Mutton Leg | Attukal : (shown in above image)
  • In a pressure cooker pan add goat leg / mutton leg with water, turmeric powder and required salt and mix well.
  • Cook for 1 whistle and 30min in simmer, when all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan and keep aside.

Steps To Make Mutton Leg | Attukal Sukka :
  • Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan / kadai, roast the star anise, cinnamon stick and cloves, then add onion and curry leaves, saute until the onion becomes light golden brown colour.
  • Then add tomato and green chili, saute for about 2 minutes or till the tomato becomes tender.
  • Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and required salt, saute til the oil is separate from the masala.

  • Add coconut paste and saute for an minute.
  • Now add pressure cooked mutton leg / goat leg with stock, mix well and cook until again the oil is separate from the gravy, also stirring frequently in between.
  • Finally add cashew-nuts, mix well and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Curd Rice or Mutton Curry.
