Butterless Sponge Cake | பஞ்சு கேக் | Basic Sponge Cake



Ingredients :

Butterless Sponge Cake | பஞ்சு கேக் | Basic Sponge Cake

Egg - 3 no
Maida / All Purpose Flour - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 1/4 cup
Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp
Salt - Pinch
Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp

Method :

Steps To Make The Butter-less Sponge Cake 
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degree at convection mode.
  • Lightly grease the sides of a 7" cake dish with oil / butter and dust by maida / all purpose flour. Also line the base with greased butter paper / waxed paper and keep aside.
  • Stiff together the maida / all purpose flour, baking soda and salt. Keep aside.

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs with an electric beater for an minute. (Image 1)
  • Sprinkle on the sugar little by little and continue beating 5minutes longer, until the ribbon stage. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Add in vanilla essence and continue beating for few seconds.
  • Gradually stir in the sifted flour mixture very gently.(Image 4 and 5)

  • Pour in to the prepared cake dish, and bake in the lower rake about 25 to 30min or until done. (Image 6 and 7)
  • The cake should spring back, when center is gently pressed with a fingertip.
  • Let cake cool down in the cake dish for about 10min, turn out, remove the butter paper / waxed paper and cool it. (Image 8)
  • Decorate with butter icing and ready to serve.
