Ingredients :

Split Red Gram / Toor Dal / Thuvaram Paruppu Recipe II / துவரம் பருப்பு

Toor Dal / Thuvaram Paruppu - 1/2 cup (washed)
Tomato - 1/2 no (chopped)
Dry Red Chili - 2 no
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Ghee - 2 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Water - 1 and 1/2 cup
Salt to Taste.

Steps To Make Toor Dal Recipe :
  • Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric powder, oil, asafoetida and water for 1 whistle and 2min in simmer.
  • When all the steam has escaped, open pressure cooker and keep aside.

  • In a kadai, temper mustard seeds and urad dal with hot ghee.
  • After splutter add cumin seeds, dry red chili and curry leaves, saute for few seconds.
  • Add pressure cooked dal, tomato and required salt, mix well and cook for an minute and ready to serve.
