Chennai Pakkoda | சென்னை பக்கோடா - Evening Snack



Ingredients :

Chennai Pakkoda | சென்னை பக்கோடா - Evening Snack

Gram Flour / Kadalai Maavu - 1 cup
Raw Rice Flour / Pachai Arisi Maavu- 1/2 cup
Butter - 2 tbsp (room temperature)
Onion - 1 no (thinly sliced)
Garlic - 10 cloves (crushed)
Green Chili - 2 no (finely chopped)
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Salt to Taste 
Water - 1/4 cup (+ or -)
Oil for deep fry.

Method :

Steps To Make Chennai Pakkoda :
  • In a mixing bowl, add gram flour, rice flour, asafoetida, butter and required salt and mix well without water. (Image 1)
  • Add in onion, green chili, curry leaves and coriander leaves and again mix well without water. (Image 2)
  • Sprinkle required water little by little and knead into soft dough. (Image 3 & 4)

  • Spoon the dough on hot oil, cook on medium flame til golden brown colour and ready to serve. (Image 5 & 6)

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Sambar Rice or Milk Rice.
