Snack Gourd Kootu with Coconut Milk | புடலங்காய் கூட்டு | Thengai Pal Pudalangai Kootu


Ingredients :

Snack Gourd Kootu with Coconut Milk | புடலங்காய் கூட்டு | Thengai Pal Pudalangai Kootu

Snake Gourd / Pudalangai - 300 gm
Coconut Milk - 1 cup
Green Gram / Pasi Paruppu - 1/4 cup
Onion - 1 no
Green Chili - 2 no (slit)
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Water - 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Clean Snake Gourd :
  • To remove the snowy skin, gently scrap the skin by using knife.
  • Then remove the seeds and other stuff from inside.
  • Wash well, chop into required size and ready to use.

Steps To Make Snake Gourd Kootu :

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan and temper mustard seeds. (Image 1)
  • After splutter add onion, green chili and curry leaves, saute for about half a minute. (Image 2)
  • Add snake gourd and saute for few seconds. (Image 3)
  • Add green gram \ pasi paruppu, turmeric powder and required salt, mix well and saute for few seconds. (Image 4)

  • Pour coconut milk and water, mix well and bring to boil. (Image 5 & 6)
  • Close the lid and pressure cook for 1 whistle and 2 to 3minute in simmer. 
  • When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan. (Image 7)
  • Mix well and ready to serve. (Image 8)
