Easy SiruKizhangu | Chinese Potato Poriyal | Pressure Cook Method

Siru Kizhangu - 250 gm
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Coconut Paste - 1 tbsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Water - 1/2 cup
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt To Taste. |
Steps To Clean \ Use Siru Kizhangu :
- Wash the siru kizhangu \ Chinese potato well to remove the sands.
- Scrub the skin by using knife and immerse in ordinary water to avoid discoloration. (Image 2)
- Then chop into small pieces and ready to use. (Image 3)

Steps To Make Siru Kizhangu Poriyal :
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the onion and curry leaves, saute til the onion becomes light brown colour. (Image 4)
- Add the chopped siru kizhangu and saute for few seconds. (Image 5)
- Add in the red chili powder, cumin seeds powder and turmeric powder, saute for half a minute or until the raw smell leaves. (Image 6)
- Add the coconut paste and required salt and mix well. (Image 7)
- Pour the water, mix well and cook for 1 whistle and 1minute over simmer. (Image 8)
- When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 9)
Tip : If there is water after pressure cooked, heat til the water has reduced completely. (Image 9) |
Serving Suggestion :
Serve hot with Sambar Rice or Dal Rice. |
