Saamai \ Little Milltet - 1 cup
Pasi Paruppu \ Green Gram (split, skinless) - 1/2 cup
Cashew-nuts - 10 no
Ginger - 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Green Chili - 1 no (chopped)
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Water - 3 and 1/2 cup
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make Saamai \ Little Millet Ven Pongal :
- Ghee roast the cashew-nuts in a hot pressure cooker pan and keep aside. (Image 1)
- Fry the cumin seeds and pepper, then add the ginger, green chili, asafoetida and curry leaves, saute for few seconds. (Image 2)
- Add the washed saamai \ little millet and dal, mix well. (Image 3)
- Pour the water and bring to boil. (Image 4)
- Cook for 1 whistle and 5mins over simmer. When all the steam has escaped and open the pressure cooker pan. (Image 5)
- Add fried cashe-wnuts, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 6)

Serve hot with Sambar, Coconut Chutney and Vadai. |
