White Radish \ Vellai Mullangi - 1 no (200gm, chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Coconut Shreds - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Urad Dal - 2 tbsp + 1/4 tsp
Dry Red Chilly - 3 no
Tamarind Ball - 1"
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Radish Thogayal \ Thuvaiyal :
- Heat oil in a khadai \ frying pan, saute the urad dal and dry red chili till the urad dal becomes light brown colour and keep aside. (Image 1 and 2)
- Then saute the radish for about 5minutes over simmer to remove its raw smell. (Image 3)
- Add in the tomato and saute till the tomato becomes tender. (Image 4)
- Add the remaining ingredients (coconut, tamarind, asafoetida and coriander leaves) with required salt and saute for few seconds. (Image 5)
- Cool the radish mixture completely. (Image 6)

- Then grind the urad dal and dry red chili into powder. (Image 7 and 8)
- And grind with radish mixture and keep aside. (Image 9 and 10)
- Separately temper the mustard seeds and urad dal in a teaspoon of hot oil, after splutter add the curry leaves, saute for few seconds, mix with the ground thogayal and ready to serve. (Image 11 and 12)
