Hot and Spicy Raw Plantain Balls

Raw Plantain \ Vazhakkai - 1 no
Onion - 1/2 no (finely chopped)
Green Chilli - 1 no (finely chopped)
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Cloves - 2 no
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Poppy Seeds - 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds - 1 ts
Maida - 1 tbsp
Coconut - 1/4 cup (grated)
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Oil for deep fry
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Raw Plantain Balls \ Vazhakkai Kozha Urundai :
- Slice the raw plantain and steam in pressure cooker for 1 whistle and 3mins in simmer. When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan, remove the skin (outer skin is use to make chutney) and cool them. (Image 1 and 2)

- To make the masala, first grind the cloves, cinnamon stick, fennel seeds and poppy seeds. (Image 3 and 4)
- Then add the remaining ingredients (onion, green chilli, ginger garlic paste and coconut) except maida and coriander leaves and grind coarsely without water. (Image 5 and 6)

- To make the raw plantain balls, grate the steamed raw plantain in a mixing bowl. (Image 7)
- Combine with ground masala, maida, coriander leaves and required salt. (Image 8)
- Make small balls about 1 and 1/2 inch. (Image 9)
- Then deep fry in hot till golden brown colour and ready to serve. (Image 10)
