Raw Plantain Skin \ Vazhakkai Thol - 1 no (steamed)
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Tamarind - 1" ball size
Dry Red Chilli - 3 no
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 2 tbsp + 1/4 tsp
Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp + 2 tsp
Water - 1/2 cup (+ or -)
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Raw Plantain Skin Thogayal :
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a khadai \ frying pan, roast the urad dal (1 tbsp) and dry red chili, keep aside. (Image 1)
- Then saute the tomato till it becomes tender. (Image 2)
- Stir in the raw plantain skin, tamarind and required salt for an minute over simmer and allow to cool completely. (Image 3 and 4)

- Then grind the roasted urad dal and dry red chili with asafoetida into powder. (Image 5)
- Add in sauteed raw plantain skin mixture and coconut, grind into fine paste with required water. (Image 6 and 7)
- Separately temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the curry leaves, saute for few seconds, then mix the tempered ingredients with the ground raw plantain skin mixture and ready to serve. (Image 8)

Serving Suggestion :
Serve the raw plantain skin thogayal \ chutney with Idly or Dosai. |
