Ingredients :

Aval Upma
Aval \ Flattened Red Rice \ Poha - 1 cup
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Bengal Gram \ Kadalai Paruppu - 1 tbsp
Green Chili - 2 no (slit)
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to Taste.

Preparation :

  • Wash and drain the flattened red rice \ ketti aval, and set aside for 15mins.

Steps To Make The Flattened Red Rice Upma \ Ketti Aval Upma

  • Heat oil in a hot kadai, temper the mustard seeds, after splutter add in the urad dal and bengal gram, saute till the dal becomes light brown color. (Image 1)
  • Add in the onion, green chili and curry leaves, saute till the onion becomes light brown colour. (Image 2)
  • Then add the flattened red rice \ ketti aval, sprinkle little water, cook for 2mins over simmer, stirring in between. (Image 3)
  • Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 4)
