Ingredients :

Samba Rava \ Semolina - 1 cup
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup
Dry Ginger \ Sukku - 1/2 tsp
Cashew-nuts - 10 no
Sugar - required
Salt - required
Water - required
Ghee - 1 tbsp

Method :

Steps To Make The Samba Gothumai Rava Puttu :

  • Dry roast the samba rava in a hot kadhai for an minute or until its nice aroma arise well. (Image 1)
  • Then transfer the roasted samba rava into the mixing bowl and allow to cool completely. (Image 2)
  • Mix with salt and sprinkle required water (approx 3/4 cup) little by little and mix well in a crumble texture, keep aside. (Image 3)
  • To steam, boil 1 and 1/2 cup of water in a idly pan, place the top idly plate, cover by wet cloth and spread the prepared samba rava over the cloth evenly. (Image 4)
  • Then fold the cloth sides and close the lid, cook for 15minutes (+ or -). (Image 5 and 6)

  • Meantime, ghee roast the cashew-nuts separately and keep aside. (Image 7)
  • After steamed the samba rava, open the idly pan and transfer in to the mixing bowl and mix with required sugar. (Image 8 and 9)
  • Then mix with dry ginger powder. (Image 10)
  • Then add in the grated coconut and mix well. (Image 11)
  • Finally add in the roasted cashews, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 12)
