Thuthuvalai \ Thoodhuvalai - 1\2 (thorns removed and washed)
Coconut - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Urad Dal - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 3 cloves
Tamarind - 1" ball size
Dry Red Chilli - 3 no
Gingelly Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to Taste. |
How To Use \ Cook The Thuthuvalai \ Solanum Ttrilobatum Herb :
- In India, thuthuvalai leaves is an herb used to treat the common cold, cough and asthma.
- The herb plant contain full of thorns, even the leaves have more thorns, so it is important to remove the thorns before cooking.
- The herb can be consumed by mildly frying it in oil/ghee and then grinding it.
- The herb can be stored in powdered form by drying the leaves under shade and making a powder out of it.

Steps To Make The Thuthuvalai Keerai Thuvaiyal :
- Heat oil in a hot kadhai and saute the urad dal and dry red chilli until the dal becomes light brown colour and keep aside. (Image 1)
- Then saute the coconut, garlic cloves and tamarind till the coconut becomes light brown colour and keep aside. (Image 2)
- Then saute the thuthuvalai keerai \ solanum trilobatum herb over simmer till the herbs shrinks. (Image 3 and 4)

- To make thuvaiyal, grind the urad dal and dry red chilli into powder. (Image 5)
- Then grind with the coconut, garlic, tamarind and required salt. (Image 6)
- Then add the sauteed thuthuvalai keerai and grind into coarsely paste with required water, and ready to serve. (Image 7 and 8)
