Hot and Sour Nethili Meen Kuzhambu | Tasty Anchovies Curry Recipe

Serves: 4 to 5 persons |
Nethili Meen \ Anchovies - 400 gm
Shallots - 1/2 cup
Tomato - 2 nos
Garlic - 15 cloves
Green Chilli - 2 no (slit)
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (1 and 1/2 inch ball size)
Red Chilli Powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Coconut Paste - 1/4 cup
Gingelly Oil - 3 tbsp
Fenugreek - 1 tsp
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Nethili Meen Kuzhambu \ Anchovies Curry :
- Heat the oil in a utensil \ pan and roast the fenugreek. (Image 1)
- Add in the shallots, garlic and curry leaves, saute till translucent. (Image 2)
- Then saute the tomato and green chilli till the tomato turn tender. (Image 3)
- Stir in the red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder and turmeric powder till its raw smell leaves. (Image 4)

- Add the tamarind water, coconut paste, required salt and a cup of water, mix well and bring to boil. (Image 6)
- Then cook for 10mins over medium flame.
- Add in the fishes and cook for another 5mins, also don't stir in between, just shake the pan. (Image 7)
- Cover and let the curry stands for 5 to 10mins till the oil floats on top and ready to serve. (Image 8)
