Siru Kizhangu Chops

Siru Kizhangu Chops | Creamy Cashewnuts Sirukizhangu Masala Chops

Ingredients :

Siru Kizhangu \ Chinese Potato - 300 gm
Cloves - 2 no
Cinnamon Stick - 1" long
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Poppy Seeds - 1 tbsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Green Chilli - 2 no
Cashew-nuts - 10 to 15nos
Shallots - 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Siru Kizhangu Chops :

  • Pressure cook the siru kizhangu for 1 whistle and 3 to 5mins over simmer with 1 and 1/2 cup of water.
  • When all the steam has released, open the pan and take out the cooked siru kizhangu, allow to cool, remove the skin and chop into small pieces. (Image 1)

  • To make the chops masala, grind the cloves, cinnamon stick, fennel seeds, poppy seeds and pepper into fine powder, then again grind with the cashews and green chilli into fine paste with required water and keep aside. (Image 2, 3 and 4)
  • To make the siru kizhangu chops, heat oil in a kadhai \ pan, saute the shallots and curry leaves till the onion turn light brown color. (Image 5)
  • Stir in the ginger garlic paste till its raw smell leaves. (Image 6)
  • Stir in the pressure cooked siru kizhangu for an minute. (Image 7)

  • Stir in the ground masala paste and turmeric powder for few seconds. (Image 8)
  • Add the water and required salt, mix altogether. (Image 9)
  • Cover and cook for 5mins over simmer by stirring frequently. (Image 10)
  • Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 11)
In case, the siru kizhangu chops thickens more than required, add 1/4 cup of milk before serving.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Rice or Chapathi.
