How To Make The Sweet Boondi Easily At Home - Simple Easy Tasty !

Ingredients :

Boondi
Kadalai Maavu \ Besan Flour - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Cashew-nuts - 1/4 cup
Raisins - 1/4 cup
Kalkandu \ Rock Sugar - required (optional)
Cardamom - 3 pods
Salt - pinch
Oil for deep fry.

Method :

Steps To Make The Sweet Boondi :

  • Make the sugar syrup with half a cup of water, add the cardamom, mix well and keep aside. (Image 1 and 2)
  • Ghee roast the cashews and raisins separately and keep aside. (Image 3 and 4)

  • To make the boondi batter, mix the kadalai maavu \ besan flour with a generous pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. (Image 5)
  • Mix the flour with the required water into smooth paste without lumps, it should not too thick and too watery. (Image 6)
  • To make the boondi, heat oil in a kadhai until it reaches its smoking point, then reduce the heat into simmer, hold the boondi ladle or jalli karandi 5inches above the oil, pour few spoons of batter over the ladle so that the boondi drops in the hot oil evenly. (Image 7 and 8)

  • Then turn the flame into medium and cook until golden color but not browned, take out the boondi and drain the oil. (Image 9)
  • Place them on a kitchen towel to absorb the excess oil. (Image 10)
  • Do the same for the remaining batter.
  • While hot immerse the boondi into the sugar syrup for an minute or till its absorb the syrup and transfer into the bowl, mix with the fried cashews and raisins and ready to serve. (Image 11 and 12)

Serving Suggestion : Serve the sweet boondi with crispy butter murukku.
