How To Use \ Cook The Thuthuvalai \ Solanum Ttrilobatum Herb :
- In India, thuthuvalai leaves is an herb used to treat the common cold, cough and asthma.
- The herb plant contain full of thorns, even the leaves have more thorns, so it is important to remove the thorns before cooking.
- The herb can be consumed by mildly frying it in oil/ghee and then grinding it.
- The herb can be stored in powdered form by drying the leaves under shade and making a powder out of it.

Thuthuvazhai Keerai - 1 and 1/2 cup
Idly Rice - 1 cup
Thuvaram Paruppu \ Toor Dal - 1/4 cup
Kadalai Paruppu \ Bengal Gram - 1/4 cup
Dry Red Chilli - 2 no
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Garlic - 5 cloves
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Gingelly Oil - required
Salt to taste. |
Preparation :
- Wash and soak the rice, thuvaram paruppu, kadalai paruppu and dry red chilli for 2 hours.
- Drain the water and keep aside.
Step To Make The Thuthuvazhai Keerai Adai Batter and Adai :
- Grind the soaked ingredients and pepper into coarsely with required water. (Image 1 and 2)
- Then grind with thuthuvazhai keerai and garlic coarsely. (Image 3 and 4)
- Again grind with coconut till combined. (Image 5 and 6)
- Transfer the batter into a bowl. If the batter is too thick add some water, mix well and the batter is ready.

- To make the adai, heat iron tawa, pour a large ladlefull of batter in the center, spread into circle, make some holes using spoon and pour teaspoon of oil around the adai. (Image 7 and 8)
- Cover and cook over simmer on both sides till the brown spots appear and ready to serve. (Image 9 and 10)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with the Coconut chutney.
