Vazhakkai Sukka | Fried Raw Banana with Spicy Masala - Side Dish!

Vazhakkai \ Raw Banana - 1 no (skin peeled, 1cm chopped)
Cloves - 2 no
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Cashews - 10
Shallots - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp + 1/4 tsp
Oil - 3 tbsp + deep fry
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Vazhakkai Sukka \ Fried Raw Banana with Spicy Masala :
- To make spicy cashew masala, dry roast the cloves, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and pepper. (Image 1)
- And stir in cashews for few seconds and cool completely. (Image 2)
- Then grind the roasted ingredients with green chilli into fine paste with required water. (Image 3 and 4)
- Separately half cook the vazhakkai \ raw banana in a boiling water with turmeric powder and little salt. (Image 5)
- Then deep fry in the hot oil and keep aside. (Image 6)

- To make the sukka, heat oil in a kadhai \ pan and saute the shallots and curry leaves till the shallots turn translucent. (Image 7)
- Stir in the ginger garlic paste until raw smell leaves. (Image 8)
- Stir in the prepared masala paste for few seconds. (Image 9)
- Add 3/4 cup of water and turmeric powder, bring to boil. (Image 10)
- Add in the fried vazhakkai \ raw banana and cook till the water reduced and dry. (Image 11 and 12). Ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with the Dal rice, Sambar or Rasam. |
