Ingredients :

Keerai
Manathakkali Keerai - 1 heaped cup
Urad Dal - 3 tbsp
Dry Red Chilli - 3 no
Asafoetida -  1/4 tsp
Garlic - 7 cloves
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Tamarind - 1" ball size
Crystal Salt - required
Oil - 1 tbsp.

Method :

Steps To Make The Manathakkali Keerai Thuvaiyal :

  • Heat a teaspoon of oil in a kadhai and saute the urad dal and dry red chilli until the dal turns light brown color, then stir in the asafoetida for few seconds and keep aside. (Image 1)
  • Again heat a teaspoon of oil and saute the coconut and garlic until light brown color, keep separately. (Image 2)
  • Again heat a teaspoon of oil and saute the manathakkali keerai and tamarind until the keerai raw smell leaves completely. (Image 3 and 4)

  • To make the thuvaiyal, first grind the urad dal and dry red chilli mixture. (Image 5)
  • Then add in the coconut and garlic mixture, grind into coarsely. (Image 6)
  • Then add in the keerai and tamarind mixture, grind into little coarsely with required salt and water. (Image 7 and 8)
  • Transfer the ground keerai mixture into a bowl and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Thinai Idly or Dosai with Sambar and Chutney.
