Breads are wide varieties of types, shapes, size, flavors and texture. It is eaten as a breakfast, dinner and even as a snack. Bread main ingredients are flour, yeast and water. To make it healthier, instead of flour, we can also use wheat flour or any millets. Usually bread is used to make the common dishes like bread toast, sandwiches, pudding, rolls, halwa, pulav and many more.
Some of the bread based recipes that i have already posted are easy bread toast with egg and milk, simple bread paneer toast and potato stuffed bread rolls.
Today learn how to make the whole wheat honey milk bread ( homemade whole wheat sweet bread ) with dry fruits and nuts like raisins, figs, dates, almonds and cashew-nuts, also flavored with cinnamon. Now for the delicious bread recipe...

Ingredients :

Homemade Wheat Bread
Whole Wheat Flour - 2 cups
Active Dried Yeast - 2 and 1\2 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Honey - 3 tbsp
Butter - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - generous pinch
Milk - required

Dry Fruits And Nuts :

Raisins - 2 tbsp
Figs - 3 no (chopped)
Dates - 5 no (chopped)
Almonds - 10 no (crushed)
Cashews - 10 no (crushed)

Steps To Make The Homemade Whole Wheat Honey Bread with Dry Fruits And Nuts :

  • To proofing the active dry yeast, take quarter cup of warm water (105 F to 110 F), stir in the sugar and yeast until the yeast dissolved somewhat. Then cover and set for 10 to 15mins, after that if the yeast mixture becomes foamy, it is ready to use. (Image 1)

  • To make the bread dough, in a mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour, honey, butter, cinnamon powder and salt, mix well altogether. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Add in the yeast mixture and mix well. (Image 4)
  • Add required amount of milk and knead into smooth dough. (Image 5 and 6)
  • Place the knead dough in a greased bowl and cover with cling film. (Image 7)
Homemade Wheat Bread
  • Let it rise for about an hour or until it doubles in size. (Image 8)
  • Punch down the dough, add in the dried fruits and nuts ( raisins, figs, dates, almonds and cashews ) and mix well. (Image 9 and 10)
  • Grease the bread loaf pan. (Image 12)
  • Form the prepared dough into a log shape and place in the greased loaf pan. (Image 12)
  • Again let it rise for about an hour, until it doubles in size. (Image 13)
Homemade Wheat Bread
  • To bake, pre-heat the oven to 180 degree Celsius, Bake for 30 to 35minutes, until the top turns golden brown colour. Then let it cool completely on a wire rack. Slice and serve. (Image 14)

Serving Suggestion : Sandwitch the bread slices with peanut butter and banana or mixed fruits jam.
