Independence Day Special 2015 - Homemade tri-coloured cup cakes, flavoured with vanilla and easy butter frosting, with step by step images and instruction. Follow the recipe as below...

Ingredients :

Maida \ All Purpose Flour - 1 cup
Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cooking Soda - 1/4 tsp
Butter - 80 gm ( room temperature)
Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup
Egg - 2 nos ( room temperature)
Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
Green Food Colour - 2 pinch
Orange Food Colour - 2 pinch

Frosting :


Butter - 50 gm
Icing Sugar - 150 gm (+ or -)
Milk - required
Salt - pinch
Food Colour - optional

Method :

Steps To Make The Tri Colour Cup Cake :

  • Sieve the flour with baking powder and cooking soda for 2 to 3 times and keep aside. (Image 1)

  • To make the cup cake batter, In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar till light and creamy. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time until combined. (Image 4 and 5)
  • Beat in the vanilla essence until combined. (Image 6)
  • Then gently fold in the sieved flour mixture and the cup cake batter is ready. (Image 7)

  • To make the tri colour cup cake batter, divide the cup cake batter into three equal parts in bowls. Then mix the orange food colour in one bowl, then mix the green food colour in another bowl and leave the third one for white colour. (Image 8) (dilute the powdered food colour with required water and then use)
  • Line the cup cake moulds, spoon the batter into the moulds as green colour first, then white colour and then orange colour. (Image 9, 10 and 11)
  • Tap the cup cake gently.

  • Bake in the pre heated oven for 25minutes to 30 minutes at 180 degree Celsius. (Image 12)
  • Test the cup cake by inserting a knife or tooth pick in the center, it should comes out clean.
  • Cool the cup cake completely on wire rack. (Image 12)
  • For frosting, beat the butter, icing sugar, salt and required milk into creamy. Fill the piping bag and decorate the cooled cup cakes with butter frosting and ready to serve. (below image)
