South Indian Special Mutton Elumbu Sambar Curry | Village Style Goat Bone Sambar Curry recipe in a easy pressure cooking method, is made with the drumstick, country brinjal, thuvaram paruppu, spices and simple ingredients. Follow the recipe below with easy step by step images and instruction.

Ingredients :

Mutton Elumbu Sambar
Mutton With Elumbu | Meat With Bone - 250 gm
Thuvaram Paruppu | Toor Dal - 1\4 cup
Cinnamon Stick - 2"
Cloves - 3 no
Star Anise - 1 no
Bay Leaf - 2 no
Sambar Onion | Shallots - 1\2 cup (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Drumstick - 1 no
Country Brinjal  - 2 no
Green Chili - 2 no
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :
Mutton Elumbu Sambar

Steps To Make The Mutton Elumbu Sambar:

  • Preparation, wash and soak the thuvaram paruppu for 30 minutes. (Image 1)
  • To make the mutton elumbu sambar, heat the oil in a pressure cooker pan and roast the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise and bay leaf. (Image 2)
  • Add in the sambar onion and curry leaves, cook until golden colour. (Image 3)
  • Add in the mutton and saute till its moisture reduced. (Image 4)
Mutton Elumbu Sambar
  • Stir in the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, cumin seeds powder, pepper powder and half salt. (Image 5)
  • Add a cup of water, mix well and bring to boil. Then pressure cook for 1 whistle and 15 mins over simmer. When all the steam has released and then open the pan. (Image 6 and 7)
  • Add in the soaked thuvaram paruppu, drumstick, brinjal, tomato, remaining required salt and green chili, mix well. (Image 8)
  • Then add one and half cup of water, bring to boil, cook for an whistle and 3mins over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan and ready to serve. (Image 9 and 10)
