Ingredients :

Manjal Poosanikai | Parangikai | Yellow Pumpkin Chutney
Manjal Poosanikai | Parangikai | Yellow Pumpkin - 1 cup (chopped)
Urad dal - 2 tbsp
Dry Red Chili - 3 no
Asafoetida - 1\4 tsp
Tamarind Ball - 1 inch
Mustard Seeds - 1\4 tsp
Oil - 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
Crystal Salt - as required.

Method :

Steps To Make The Manjal Poosanikai | Parangikai | Yellow Pumpkin Chutney:

  • Heat oil in a hot kadhai, add in the urad dal and dry red chili, saute until the urad dal turns golden colour. Then add in the asafoetida, stir for few seconds and transfer into a plate to cool completely. (Image 1 and 2)
  • In the same kadhai, add the manjal poosanikai \ panrangikai and tamarind ball, saute and cook for about 5minutes over medium flame until soft. (Image 3 and 4)
  • Cool the mixture completely.

  • To make the chutney, grind the roasted and cooled urad dal - chili mixture into powder. (Image 6)
  • Add in the cooked manjal poosanikai mixture and required salt, grind into fine paste with some water. (Image 7 and 8)

  • To temper, heat a teaspoon of oil in a hot kadhai and temper the mustard seeds. (Image 9)
  • Then add in the ground manjal poosanikai mixture and saute for few seconds, ready to serve. (Image 10 and 11)
