Ingredients :

Eraal | Prawn - 1\2 cup
Kadalai Paruppu | Bengal Gram - 1\2 cup
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 1\2 cup
Ginger - 1"
Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Green Chili - 2 no (finely chopped)
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk (finely chopped)
Cooking Soda - 2 pinch (optional)
Crystal Salt - as required
Oil for deep fry.

Method :

Steps To Make The Eraal | Prawn Vadai Recipe:

  • Preparation, wash and soak the kadalai paruppu for an hour. (Image 1)
  • To make the vadai mixture, grind the prawn into paste and transfer into a mixing bowl. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Then grind the kadalai paruppu coarsely, add in the ginger, garlic, fennel seeds and crystal salt, again grind little till all the ingredients combined well. (Image 5 and 6)

  • Add the coarsely ground kadalai paruppu mixture, green chili, shallots, coriander leaves, curry leaves and cooking soda into the prawn mixture and mix well. (Image 7 and 8)
  • Divide the eraal vadai mixture into small balls. (Image 9)
  • Take a ball and flat into circle for about half inch thickness. (Image 10)
  • Deep fry in the hot oil over medium flame until golden brown colour on both side. (Image 11 and 12)
  • Do the same for the remaining.
