Ingredients :

Mathi Meen | Chala Meen - 350 gm (cleaned, washed)
Coconut - 1\4 cup
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 1\4 cup (chopped)
Green Chili - 4 no (slit)
Crushed Garlic - 3 cloves
Tamarind - 2 cup (1 and 1\2 half inch ball size)
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1\4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1\4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Gingelly Oil - 1 tsp
Crystal Salt - as required.

Method :

Steps To Make The Village Style Mathi Meen Puli Char Recipe:

  • First grind the coconut and cumin seeds with required water into coarsely, keep aside. (Image 1 and 2)

  • To make the curry, in a cooking utensil, add the tamarind water, shallots, green chili, garlic, turmeric powder and required salt, mix well. (Image 3)
  • Then heat the curry mixture and boil for 5mins to remove its raw smell. (Image 4)
  • Add the mathi | chala meen, cook for 5 to 7minutes over medium flame. (Image 5)
  • Meantime separately to temper, heat a teaspoon of oil in a kadhai, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the curry leaves and mix well. (Image 6)
  • Finally add the tempered ingredients into the fish curry, mix gently and ready to serve. (Image 7 and 8)
