Ingredients :

Kambu | Bajra | Pearl Millet - 1\2 cup
Karuppatti | Palm Jaggery - 1\2 cup
Vellam | Jaggery - 1\2 cup
2nd Extracted Coconut Milk - 3 no
1st Extracted Coconut Milk - 1 no
Cashews - 1\4 cup
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Cardamom Powder - 1\2 tsp

Method :

Steps To Make The Kambu | Bajra | Pearl Millet Payasam :

  • In a heavy bottom kadhai, dry roast the kambu over simmer. (Image 1)
  • Cool the roasted kambu, then grind coarsely and keep aside. (Image 2 and 3)

  • Make the palm jaggery and jaggery syrup with a cup of water, keep aside. (Image 4 and 5)
  • To make the payasam, heat the 2nd extracted coconut milk and bring to boil. (Image 6)
  • Then add the coarsely ground kambu, mix well and cook for 15mins over medium-simmer. (Image 7)

  • Then filter the jaggery's syrup into the payasam mixture, mix well and cook for about 5mins. (Image 8)
  • Separately ghee roast the cashews. Then add the cashews and cardamom into the payasam mixture, mix well. (Image 9)
  • Finally add the 2nd extracted coconut milk, mix well and turn of the flame. (Image 10)
  • Kambu payasam is ready to serve.
