Ingredients :

Mushroom - 1 cup (sliced)
Basmathi Rice - 1 cup
Cinnamon Stick - 2 no long
Cloves - 2 nos
Bay Leaf - 1 no
Sha Jeera - 1\2 tsp
Cashews -1 tbsp
Raisins - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
Green Chili - 1 or 2 no (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 no (small, finely chopped)
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Butter or Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Kaalan Saadam | Mushroom Rice:

  • Cook the basmathi rice and keep aside. (Image 1)
  • To make the mushroom rice, heat the butter in a kadhai and roast the cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaf and sha jeera. Add the cashews and raisins, saute until the nut turns golden colour. (Image 2)
  • Add the garlic and green chili, saute for few seconds. (Image 3)
  • Add the onion and saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. (Image 4)

  • Add the mushrooms | kaalan and required salt, mix well and cook for about five minutes or until soft. (Image 5 and 6)
  • Finally add the basmasthi rice and coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 7 and 8)
