Ingredients :

Kasa Kasaa | Poppy Seeds - 50 gm
Milk - 2 cup
Vellam | Jaggery - 1\2 cup
Cashews - 2 tbsp
Raisins - 2 tbsp
Cardamom - 2 no
Ghee - 1\4 cup + 2 tbsp

Method :

Steps To Make The Kasa Kasaa Vellam Halwa | Poppy Seeds Jaggery Halwa :

  • First soak the poppy seeds for 6 to 8 hours with enough water. (Image 1)
  • Then drain the water and grind into smooth paste with required milk and keep aside. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Separately make the jaggery syrup with half a cup of water and keep aside. (Image 4)

  • To make the halwa, in a heavy bottom kadai, add the smooth paste of poppy seeds and remaining milk, mix well and cook for about 5minutes. (Image 5)
  • Filter the jaggery syrup into the halwa mixture, mix well and cook over medium-simmer. (Image 6)
  • It bubbles like volcano so carefully cook.
  • When the halwa mixture turns thick, then add the ghee little by little and mix well. (Image 8)

  • Parallely ghee roast the cashews and raisins. (Image 9)
  • Add the roasted cashews and raisins into the halwa mixture, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 10 and 11)
