Ingredients :

Vazhai Poo | Banana Flower - 1 cup (cleaned, finely chopped)
Mustard Seeds - 1\4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1\4 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1\2 tsp
Crushed Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves
Green Chili - 1 or 2 no (slit)
Shallots - 5 nos (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Cooked Rice - 2 cups
Gingelly Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Vazhai Poo Saadam | Banana Flower rice:

  • Heat the oil in a kadhai and temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the cumin seeds and stir for few seconds. (Image 1)
  • Add the garlic and green chili, saute until its raw smell leaves completely. (Image 2)
  • Add the shallots and curry leaves, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. (Image 3)
  • Add the vazhai poo and turmeric powder, mix well. Then sprinkle some water and add required salt, mix well. Cook for about five minutes over medium flame. (Image 4)

  • Add the pepper powder, mix well and the vazhai poo mixture is ready. (Image 5)
  • Then add the cooked rice, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 6 and 7)
