Potato And Chicken Kurma | Urulai Kilangu Koli Kari Kurma recipe - Usually I don't like to combine the veg and non-veg things together. For the first time I tried the combination of chicken and potato. Really the potato goes well with the chicken, its taste and flavors are blended nicely. I'm very happy to share this very simple and tasty potato and chiken kurma with easy ingredients in a pressure cooking method. Along with step by step images and instructions. Follow the recipe as below...

Ingredients :

Potato chicken kurma
Potato | Urulai Kizhangu - 250gm (2" cut)
Chicken | Kozhi Kari -250gm (boneless)
Coconut - 1\4 cup (chopped)
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cloves - 2 no
Star Anise - 1 no
Bay Leaf - 1 or 2 no
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 1\4 cup (chopped)
Green Chili - 2 no
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Tomato - 1 no (small, chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Salt To Taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Method :

Steps To Make The Potato Chicken Kurma | Urulai Kizhangu Kozhi Kari Kurma:

First grind the coconut and fennel seeds into paste with required water and keep aside. To make the kurma, heat the oil in a pressure cooker pan and roast the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise and bay leaf. Add the shallots, green chili and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns slight golden colour. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute till its raw smell leaves completely. Add the tomato and cook till tender.

Add the chicken pieces and saute for an minute. Then add the red chili powder, turmeric powder and required salt, stir for few seconds. Add the potato pieces and mix well. Add the ground coconut paste and mix well. Add one and half cup of water, mix well and bring to boil. Cover and pressure cook for an whistle and 5minutes over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan, mix gently and serve.

Notes: Cut the potatoes into large pieces else it will break into small pieces.
Serving Suggestion: Serve the potato chicken kurma with white rice, poori or chapathi.
