Home Style Chicken Curry | Kozhi Kari Kulambu - South Indian Home Style Chicken Curry Recipe - This is also one of my favorite dish. My mom usually make this chicken curry at night for dosai. But this curry goes well with the white rice too. It is made with the main ingredients of shallots | sambar onion, simple spices and masala's. To get best taste and flavor, use shallots and homemade masala's. Now lets see how to make this home style chicken curry recipe in a easy pressure cooking method with step by step images and instructions.

Ingredients :

Chicken Pieces - 500 gm (washed)
Cinnamon Stick - 2"
Cloves - 3 nos
Star Anise - 1 no
Bay Leaf - 1 no
Kalpasi - 1 small piece
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 20 to 25 no (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 and 1\2 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Roasted Cumin Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Roasted Fennel Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt To Taste.

Steps To Make The Home Style Chicken Curry | Kozhi Kari Kuzhambu:

Heat the oil in a pressure cooker pan and roast the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, bay leaf and kalpasi. Add the shallots and curry leaves, saute till the shallots turns slightly golden colour. Add the tomato and cook till the tomato becomes tender.

Add the chicken pieces and turmeric powder, mix well for an minute. Then add the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder and required salt, stir for an minute. (This stage helps the chicken curry to get dark colour.) Add 1 and 1\2 cup of water, mix well and bring to boil. Cover and pressure cook for an whistle and five minutes over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan, add the pepper powder, cumin seeds powder and fennel seeds powder, mix well and cook for an minute. Then turn off the flame. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix gently and ready to serve.

My Notes: Use shallots for best taste. Also use roasted cumin seeds powder and roasted fennel seeds powder for good aroma.
Serving Suggestion: Serve the home style chicken curry with the white rice, idly or dosai.
