Ingredients :

Siru Kizhangu - 250 gm
Oil - 2 tbsp
Sambar Onion - 1\2 cup (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Crushed Ginger Garlic - 1 tsp
Local Tomato - 1 no (finely chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\2 tsp
Salt To Taste
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\4 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

Steps To Cook The Siru Kizhangu:

Take a pressure cooker pan, add the siru kizhangu and 2 cups of water, cover and pressure cook for an whistle and five minutes over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan, take out the siru kizhangu and cool completely. Then remove the outer skin and cut into small pieces, keep aside.

Steps To Make The Siru Kizhangu Poriyal:

Heat the oil in a hot kadhai, add the onion and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns slightly golden colour. Add the crushed ginger garlic and saute till its raw smell leaves completely.

Add the tomato and cook till soft. Then add the red chili powder, cumin seeds powder, turmeric powder and required salt, stir for few seconds. Now add the siru kizhangu, mix well and cook for about two to three minutes. Add the cumin seeds powder and pepper powder, stir for few seconds. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and the siru kizhangu poriyal is ready.

My Notes: Buy even size siru kizhangu to cook evenly.
Serving Suggestion: Serve the siru kizhangu poriyal with the paruppu rice or sambar rice.
