Chili Siru Kizhangu | Indo Chinese Style Chili Siru Kizhangu in dry method - Usually we make chili chicken, chili mushroom, chili paneer or chili fish. For the change, my amma gave an idea to try with siru kizhangu, I though, how the siru kizhangu taste goes well with Chinese ingredients and I tried with doubt only. But siru kizhangu taste really blended with the chili sauce very well, trust me. I got the feel of eating chili chicken. Now lets see how to make this chili siru kizhangu in Indo Chinese with easy available ingredients, step by step images and instructions.

Chili Siru Kilangu | Indo Chinese Style Chili Siru Kilangu In Dry

Ingredients :

Siru Kizhangu - 250 gm
Maida - 1\4 cup
Corn Flour - 1\4 cup
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Ginger - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Garlic - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Green Chili - 1no (finely chopped)
Dry Red Chili - 1 no (finely chopped)
Red Chili Paste - 1 tbsp (blanched and ground with vinegar)
Tomato Sauce - 1 tbsp
Soy Sauce - 2 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Salt - as required
Roasted White Sesame - 1 tbsp
Method :
Pressure cook the siru kizhangu with one and half cup of water for an whistle and five minutes over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan and cool the siru kizhangu. Remove the skin and cut into lengthwise for about half inch thickness.
In a mixing bowl, add the siru kizhangu, corn flour, maida and pepper powder, mix well with required water, to coat the flour mixture on the siru kizhangu. Deep fry in the oil and keep aside.
Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the ginger, garlic, green chili and dry red chili, saute till its raw smell leaves. Add in the red chili paste, tomato sauce, soy sauce, sugar and required salt, mix well. Cook till its raw smell leaves and sauce consistency.
Add the fried siru kizhangu and mix well. Add the roasted white sesame, toss well and the chili siru kilangu is ready.
Notes: Siru kizhangu outer skin contains soils so wash well and pressure cook it. If you like saucy consistency means, mix two teaspoon of cornflour and some water, add it into the sauce, boil well and mix the fried siru kizhangu.

In a pressure cooker pan, add the siru kizhangu, 1 and 1\2 cup of water, cover and pressure for an whistle at high flame and then cook for 5mins over simmer. When all the steam has released from the pressure cooker pan, open and cool the siru kizhangu.

Once cooled, remove the outer skin and cut into lengthwise for about 1\2inch thickness.

Take a mixing bowl, add the siru kizhangu, corn flour, maida and pepper powder. Then add required water and mix well to coat the flour on siru kizhangu.

Then deep fry in the oil in a small batches and keep aside.

To make the chili sauce, heat the oil in a hot kadhai, add the ginger, garlic, green chili and dry red chili, saute till its raw smell leaves. Add the red chili paste, tomato sauce, soy sauce, sugar and required salt. Mix well altogether.

Cook till its raw smell leaves and reach the saucy consistency. And then add the fried siru kizhangu.

Mix well altogether and finally add the roasted sesame seeds, mix well. Now the chili siru kizhangu is ready.

Serving Suggestion: Serve the chili siru kizhangu with the fried rice or dal rice.
