Nethili Meen - 500gm (cleaned) |
Mangai | Raw Mango - 1\2 no (2" size) |
Gingelly Oil - 2 tbsp |
Fenugreek - 1\2 tsp |
Sambar Onion - 3\4 cup (chopped) |
Garlic - 10 cloves |
Green Chili - 2 no |
Curry Leaves - 2 stk |
Tomato - 1 no (chopped) |
Red Chili Powder - 2 tsp |
Coriander Seeds Powder - 2 tsp |
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp |
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (2" ball size) |
Salt to Taste. |

Notes: If you like more sour taste, you can also add more mangai. Always cook the mangai first and then add the nethili meen. Nethili meen required 2 to 3mins to cook. |

Preparation, wash and clean the nethili meen, keep aside. Make tamarind water and keep aside. To make the curry, heat the oil in a manpaanai and roast the fenugreek. |
Then add the sambar onion, garlic, green chili and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns slightly golden colour. After that add the tomato and cook till soft. |
Add the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, cumin seeds powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder, stir for few seconds. Add the tamarind water, 1 cup of water and required salt. Mix well and bring to boil. |
Add the mangai pieces, cover and cook for 5 to 7mins. |
At last, add the nethili fishes, cover and cook for about 2mins. Now the nethili curry is ready. Leave the curry for 5more minutes to separate the oil from the curry and then serve hot. |
