Nethili Meen Mangai Kuzhambu In Manpaanai | Anchovies Fish And Raw Mango Curry - South Indian Special - easy hot and sour nethili meen kuzhambu in manpaani. Usual nethili meen kuzhambu with the twist of mangai. Really mangai taste and flavor is enriched this nethili curry very much. I loved the mango bite very much 😃. It is too soft and tangy. Nethili Meen Mangai Kuzhambu | Easy Manpaanai mangai meen kulambu

Ingredients :

Nethili Meen - 500gm (cleaned)
Mangai | Raw Mango - 1\2 no (2" size)
Gingelly Oil - 2 tbsp
Fenugreek - 1\2 tsp
Sambar Onion - 3\4 cup (chopped)
Garlic - 10 cloves
Green Chili - 2 no
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 2 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (2" ball size)
Salt to Taste.
Method :
  • Heat the oil in a manpaanai and roast the fenugreek.
  • Add the sambar onion, garlic, green chili and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns slightly golden colour.
  • Add the tomato and cook till soft.
  • Add the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, cumin seeds powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder, mix well and stir for few seconds.
  • Add the tamarind water, one cup of water and required salt, mix well and bring to boil.
  • Add the mangai pieces, cover and cook for about five minutes to seven minutes.
  • At last add the nethili meen, cover and cook for about two minutes.
  • And the nethili meen mangai kuzhambu is ready.
Notes: If you like more sour taste, you can also add more mangai. Always cook the mangai first and then add the nethili meen. Nethili meen required 2 to 3mins to cook.

Preparation, wash and clean the nethili meen, keep aside. Make tamarind water and keep aside.
To make the curry, heat the oil in a manpaanai and roast the fenugreek.

Then add the sambar onion, garlic, green chili and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns slightly golden colour. After that add the tomato and cook till soft.

Add the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, cumin seeds powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder, stir for few seconds. Add the tamarind water, 1 cup of water and required salt. Mix well and bring to boil.

Add the mangai pieces, cover and cook for 5 to 7mins.

At last, add the nethili fishes, cover and cook for about 2mins. Now the nethili curry is ready. Leave the curry for 5more minutes to separate the oil from the curry and then serve hot.

Serving Suggestion: Serve nethili mangai meen kuzhambu with the fried nethili.
