Ingredients :

Palakottai | Jack Fruit Seeds - 30 no
Oil - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cloves - 2 no
Onion - 1 no (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Ginger Garlic - 1 tsp (crushed)
Tomato - 1 no (small, finely chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1\2 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Salt - as required
Coriander Leavers - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Method :
In a pressure cooker pan, add one and half cup of water, palakottai and some salt, cover and cook for one whistle over high flame and 3mins over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan. Cool the palakottai, remove the outer skin and cut into small pieces, keep aside.
To make the poriyal, heat the oil in a kadhai and roast the cinnmon stick and cloves. Add the onion and curry leaves, saute until the onion turns golden colour. Add the ginger garlic and saute for an minute.
Add the tomato and cook till soft. Add the red chili powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds powder, fennel seeds powder, turmeric powder and required salt, saute until its raw smell leaves.
Add the palakottai and mix well. Cook for an minute. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and the poriyal is ready.
Notes: If the palakottai masala is too dry means, sprinkle some water and cook.

First cook the palakottai in a pressure cooker pan with one and half cup of water and some salt for one whistle over high flame and 3mins over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan and cool the palakottai. Then remove the outer skin.

Cut the palakottai into small pieces and keep aside. To make the poriyal, heat the oil in a kadhai and roast the cinnamon stick and cloves. Then add the onion and curry leaves, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute until its raw smell leaves.

Add the tomato and cook till soft. After that add the red chili powder, cumin seeds powder, fennel seeds powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and required salt. Mix well and cook until the masala raw smell leaves.

Add the palakottai and stir for an minute. If the masala is too dry, sprinkle some water and cook. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and the palakottai poriyal is ready.

Serving Suggestion: Serve the palaa kottai poriyal with the dal rice or sambar rice.
