Chicken - 500gm (washed, medium cut) |
Ginger - 1" |
Garlic - 5 cloves |
Green Chili - 2 to 3 no |
Walnut - 1\4 cup |
Poppy Seeds - 1 tbsp |
Oil - 2 tbsp |
Cinnamon Stick - 2" |
Cloves - 3 no |
Cardamom - 2 no |
Bay Leaf - 2 no |
Large Onion - 1 no (finely chopped) |
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp |
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Salt - as required |
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped) |
Method : |
Preparations, grind the ginger, garlic and green chili into paste with required water, keep aside. Grind the walnut and poppy seeds into fine paste with required water and keep aside. |
To make the gravy, heat the oil in a pressure cooker pan, roast the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom and bay leaves. |
Add the onion and saute until translucent. Add the ground ginger-garlic-green chili paste, saute until its raw smell leaves. |
Add the chicken pieces and turmeric powder, saute for an minute. Add the ground walnut-poppy seeds paste, pepper powder and cumin seeds powder. Mix well. |
Add one cup of water and required salt, mix well. |
Cover the pan, cook for one whistle at high flame and five minutes over low flame. |
When all the steam has released, open the pan, add the coriander leaves, mix and the walnut chicken gravy is ready. |
Notes: Always open the pressure cooker pan, after the steam has released fully. |
