Thinai Arisi | Foxtail Millet - 1 cup |
Salt - as required |
Karuppu Ellu | Black Sesame - 1 tsp |
Jeeragam | Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp |
Perungayam | Asafoetida - 1\4 tsp |
Butter - 1 tsp heaped |
Pachai Arisi Maavu | Rice Flour - 1\2 cup |
Ulundu Maavu | Urad Dal Flour - 1\2 cup |
Water - required |
Oil - deep fry |
Method : |
Wash and soak the thinai arisi for about two hours. |
Drain the water fully and grind the soaked thinai into paste with required water. |
To make the thinai murukku dough, in a mixing bowl, add the ground thinai paste, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, butter, rice flour and urad dal flour, mix well altogether. Then add required water and knead into soft dough. |
To make the thinai murukku, grease the murukku maker with three hole disc and fill the required dough. Make murukku and deep fry over medium flame. Cook on both sides until golden brown colour. |
Notes: Make soft murukku dough. Fry 4 to 5 murukku at a time to maintain the oil temperature and to cook evenly. Cool the murukku up to room temperature and store in a air tight box up to a week. |
