Pistachios | Pista - 1\4 cup |
Unsalted Butter - 50 gm (room temperature) |
Brown Sugar - 50 gm (or powdered demerara sugar) |
Milk Powder - 1 tbsp |
Maida - 100 gm |
Cooking Soda - 1\8 tsp |
Salt - generous pinch |
Milk - 1 tbsp (+ or -) |
Extra |
Maida - to dust |
Butter - to grease |
Method : |
Preparations, roughly chop the pista and keep aside. Sieve the maida, cooking soda and salt, keep aside. |
To make the butter biscuits dough, in a mixing bowl, add the butter, brown sugar and milk powder. Using spatula, mix them until light and creamy. Add in the sieved flour mixture and mix well. Add required milk and knead into dough. |
Roll out the dough with dusting maida into approx 1\4 inch thickness. Sprinkle the chopped pista's on top and gently press or roll. Cut into 2 x 2 inch. |
Grease the baking tray with some butter. Arrange the biscuits on tray, leaving some space between each biscuits. Bake for 12 to 13 minutes at 180 degree Celsius pre heated oven. Cool the biscuits in the tray for 5mins or until firm to tough. Then cool completely them on rack. Store in a air-tight container box. |
Notes: Pista essence is not required. Use all the ingredients at room temperature. Instead of brown sugar, you can also use powdered demerara sugar, icing sugar or normal powdered sugar. To protect the flavor and drying out, tightly cover the biscuits with plastic cover and store in a air-tight container box. |
