Manchatti Country Chicken Gravy | Nattu Kozhi Chicken Cooked In Manchatti

Ingredients :

Gingelly Oil - 2 to 3 tbsps
Cinnamon Stick - 2" long
Cloves - 7 nos
Sambar Onion - 1 cup (chopped)
Green Chilies - 2 to 3 nos (slit)
Ginger - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Garlic - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Nattu Kozhi | Country Chicken - 500 gms (cleaned)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Water - 3 & 1\2 cups to 4 cups
Salt - as required
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsps (chopped)
Method :
Heat the oil in a manchatti | clay cooking pan, add in the cinnamon stick, cloves, sambar onion, green chilies, ginger and garlic, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. Add the tomato and saute until it turns soft.
Add in the nattu kozhi pieces and saute for about one minute. Add in the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, turmeric powder and fennel seeds powder, mix well.
Add the water and required salt, bring to boil. Cover and cook for about 1 hr (+ or -) over medium flame by stirring frequently.
When the country chicken cooked, add the pepper powder and cumin seeds powder, mix well and cook for about one minute. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix and ready.
Notes: Cooking time will differ on country chicken pieces size. Simmer the chicken for a longer duration to get a smoother and thicker gravy.
