Recipe :

Thinai Kozhukattai With Ellu Pooranam

Ingredients :

Water - 1 and 1\2 cups
Salt - as required
Ghee - 1 tsp
Thinai Arisi Maavu - 1\2 cup
Pachai Arisi Maavu - 1\2 cup
Almonds - 10 nos
Cashews - 10 nos
Ellu | Black Sesame - 50 gms
Cardamoms - 2 nos
Nattu Sakkarai - 1\2 cup to 3\4 cup
Method :
To make the thinai kozhukattai dough, heat one and half cup of water with some salt and ghee. Bring to boil and turn off the flame. Add in the thinai maavu and pachai arisi maavu, mix well without lumps and form the dough. Cover with lid and leave it to cool little and knead the dough well, keep aside.
To make the ellu pooranam, first dry roast the almonds and cashews, keep aside. Then dry roast the ellu until its sparkle well. Cool all the roasted ingredients separately.
Grind the ellu and cardamoms into powder. Add in roasted nuts and again grind into powder. Then add in the nattu sakkarai and again grind into powder. Pooranam is ready.
To make the kozhukattai, take some dough for about 2" ball size, using ghee flat into thin circle, place two teaspoon of prepared ellu pooranum \ stuffing in the center, bring all the sides together and press gently to form mothagam shape or make your desired shape. Do the same for the remaining dough.
Steam the prepared kozhukattai's in an idli pan for about 10 mins over medium flame. While hot they are so soft and will break easily, so leave it some time and take out.
Notes: If the kozhukattai dough turned too hard means, add some required hot water, knead again and use it.
