Thinai Arisi | Foxtail Millet - 1 cup |
Ghee - 2 tbsps |
Cashews - 10 to 15 nos |
Almonds - 10 to 15 nos |
Cardamoms - 4 nos |
Sukku | Dry Ginger - 1" piece |
Nattu Sakkarai or Brown Sugar - 1\2 cup to 3\4 cup |
Hot Ghee - as required |
Method : |
Wash the thinai arisi and drain the water completely. Spread them over a cloth to absorb its excess water. Dry roast them in a heavy kadai until crispy. |
Ghee roast the cashews and almonds. |
To make the laddu flour, grind the roasted thinai, cardamoms and dry ginger into powder. Add the roasted nuts and nattu sakkarai, grind few seconds to blend altogether. |
Transfer the prepared laddu flour into a bowl. Add required hot ghee, mix and make laddu's. |
Notes: Dont soak the thinai, just wash, drain, dry roast and then make powder. Instead of nattu sakkarai we can also use jaggery or brown sugar. |
