Sheela Meen Kulambu | Simple And Easy Sheela Meen Kuzhambu | Barracuda Fish Curry

Ingredients :

Gingelly Oil - 2 tbsps
Fenugreek - 1\4 tsp
Sambar Onion - 1\2 cup (chopped)
Garlic Gloves - 10 to 12 nos
Green Chillies - 2 to 3
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Country Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 and 1\2 tsps
Coriander Seeds Powder - 2 tsps
Pepper Powder - 1\2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Tamarind Water - 1 and 1\2 cups (2" ball size)
Water - 1 cup
Salt - as required
Sheela Meen - 350 gms
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, temper the fenugreek seeds. Add the sambar onion, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until the sambar onion turns slightly golden colour. Add the tomato and saute until it turns soft.
Add the red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds powder and turmeric powder. Stir few seconds.
Add the tamarind water, water and required salt, mix well and bring to boil. Cover and cook for about five to seven minutes over medium flame, to remove the masala's raw smell.
Then add the fish pieces and cook for about three minutes over medium flame. Finally add the coriander leaves and serve hot.
Notes: Always first cook the tamarind with masala to remove the curries raw smell, then add the fish pieces and cook further.
